In the 1990s, investment opportunities for surplus funds were limited. The primary options available were:

• Fixed Deposits - Offered by commercial banks but with interest rates lower than inflation.
• Real Estate - Required significant capital and had long-term appreciation.
• Gold - Mostly in the form of ornaments, often leading to losses due to resale value depreciation.

During this time, financial literacy among the general public was minimal, and stock market investments were largely unheard of. India had only a few stock exchanges, including those in Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta, and Madras.

A group of visionary chartered accountants sought to expand investment opportunities by establishing a stock exchange in Cochin. After obtaining approval from the Controller of Capital Issues, the Cochin Stock Exchange (CSE) was formed. Recognizing the potential of equity markets, we acquired membership in CSE and began trading on a small scale.

The Birth of Gabin Capital Markets Ltd.

In 1991, we envisioned an investment company that would promote financial literacy and empower individuals with knowledge about equity investments. This led to the formation of a private limited company, which was later converted into a public limited company in 1992, now known as Gabin Capital Markets Ltd. (GCML).

Since its inception, GCML has successfully navigated the dynamic financial market, continuously evolving and growing to serve our clients better.
